Mount Norquay - just five minutes drive from central Banff offers some enjoyable skiing, from tree lined blue trails to more adventurous black diamond terrain. Mount Norquay has night skiing on Fridays – skiing with the lights of Banff beneath you will be a lasting memory of your Banff ski holiday.
Sunshine Village is where you will probably spend most of your Banff ski holiday. Sunshine Village is renowned for its lengthy season from mid-November until mid May. Just 15 minutes from the resort town of Banff, Sunshine Village offers has 3,300 acres of terrain on three mountains, with an average annual snowfall of over 30 feet! Sunshine Village is big in every way. The resort features 12 different lifts including 8 super lifts, a high speed gondola, 107 named runs and the novel opportunity to ski or ride in both Alberta and British Columbia on the same run.
Banff, Sunshine Village ski is also renowned for its diverse terrain and natural snowfall. During your Banff ski holiday you are bound to discover Mount Standish and Lookout Mountain as they have everything from novice trails to tough double-blacks, with the third mountain, Goat’s Eye, giving advanced skiers plenty to think about. Expert skiers should head towards Delirium Dive and the Wild West areas, both of which can only be accessed with safety equipment.
Sunshine Village’s terrain features many natural hits and drops that are suitable for both skiers and snowboarders whilst the terrain parks offer a full range of difficulty starting with beginners and advancing to experts.
Some of the many joys of a Banff Ski holiday are found off piste. A vast range of activities include dogsledding, snowmobiling nad heliskiing all of which have to take place outside the National Park, but transfers from Banff are available.
In town, don’t miss the walking trails around the town, the Banff gondola to see spellbinding scenery, or experience an evening wildlife viewing excursion, then end the day at the natural hot springs. Other off piste activities nclude Ice walking in the canyons, snowshoeing and sleigh rides which are all wonderful ways to enjoy the Canadian winter, and an evening trip to see the Calgary Flames play ice hockey at the Calgary Saddledome will engulf you in Canadian atmosphere.
